Something quite evident in tourism is that we operate in a highly competitive industry; we are constantly competing for the few remaining dollars left in consumer pockets following the GFC. All too often we find it difficult to compete against the latest Apple I-phone or tickets to the next visiting US Pop-stars concert.
Fortunately when times are tough, our great industry gets creative and we manage to appeal to our audience in ways that don’t necessarily cost the earth but simply require some clever thinking and a little courage from individuals and companies alike.
